For years, many of the best international battery companies have come to rely on ENTEK International's RhinoHide® laminated to fiberglass retainer mat. The name of this product is Duraloc®. Duraloc® is most often used in high vibration and deep discharge batteries, such as SLI batteries for heavy duty earth-moving equipment, or high vibration truck batteries. Duraloc® is designed to help retain the positive active material from falling or shedding off the grid to the bottom of the battery, or to the bottom of the PE battery separator envelope where eventually, due to vibration, it could cause short-circuits.

Duraloc®, due to its inevitably high cost than PE battery separator alone, should be used only in batteries that require extra protection from vibration or deep discharge. Fiberglass retainer mat should never be used as a "variable spacer" as in some models of leaf separator. It is far too expensive to be used for that purpose. One should specificy the minimum thickness, (usually 0.25 mm). In some special applications, the glass mat thickness can reach 0.6 mm, although this is becoming less standard.

The fiberglass retainer mat that is laminated to RhinoHide® is most often about 14 mm less in width than the RhinoHide® itself, (about 7 mm on each side). This allows room for the mechanical or ultrasonic weld on both sides of the PE battery separator envelope. If a different width glass mat is required due to perhaps smaller sealing wheels, please contact us.
